Battle Proms 2019

As a family-run business, we at Cleaver Property Management believe in the importance of team building and bonding. We often organise social events outside of work, from BBQ’s and meals out, to a girl’s trip to Krakow last year to celebrate a team member’s milestone birthday! Our latest team-building event took place at Knockout Escape Rooms in Reading, and as well as an annual Christmas party we hold a summer event for our employees each year, too!

After putting it to a vote, the Cleaver Property Management 2019 Summer Event was held at the Battle Proms at Highclere Castle in Newbury. Organised by our wonderful Office Manager Zoë Tilbury, it’s safe to say it was an all-round success, or at least Mark (one of our fab maintenance team members) thought so!

The event itself was a pretty impressive show of classical music performances, cavalry demonstrations, a spitfire display, Red Devils parachute display, and in true Battle Proms style, the firing of cannons.

Meanwhile, as Union Jacks fluttered above heads around us, we pitched up and cracked open the picnic boxes. And the prosecco, of course! As we tucked into our pre-ordered feast of paté, prawn cocktail, cheese & biscuits, and chocolate cake, whilst enjoying the live background music, we chatted away amongst ourselves with just one rule: no mention of work!

After which, a few of us went to explore the various tents and stalls that Battle Proms had to offer; we gave the retro swing boats a miss but did win a few cuddly toys between us on the high striker. Then, well and truly in the festival spirit, there were those of us who opted to have our faces (or beards) painted with glitter.

Back at our picnic tables the sun was starting to set, and population of Highclere Castle began to rise from their seats, dancing and singing along to the music, Union Jack hats held on with one hand while holding their drinks with the other. Naturally, we joined in with the likes of Rule Britannia and The Lambeth Walk.

Once night fell, the aforementioned cannon firing was followed by a fantastic firework display, topped off with a performance (and sing-along, of course) of Auld Lang Syne. All in all, it was a fantastic event, and we would recommend Battle Proms to any smaller-sized corporate company holding a summer event for their employees.

Next stop, Christmas. But let’s not talk about that yet…
