Responsibilities of a Flat Management Company Director

Nov 11, 2020

Companies House have launched an online learning tool to help flat management company directors understand their responsibilities. It’s free and takes just 25 minutes to complete.

A flat management company is formed so that a group of residents can work together to manage their property. For example, they will liaise on making decisions regarding maintenance, cleaning, insurance etc. Any residents who have agreed to be directors will have the final say, but they will also have legal responsibilities to uphold.

The new online learning tool is part of an awareness campaign by Companies House, aimed at flat management company directors. It is a useful tool to help current or future directors understand their responsibilities to Companies House. Such as, filing annual accounts and confirmation statements, keeping company records, and reporting any changes to the company.

Access the Online Tool Here:

It  takes just 25 minutes to complete and is broken down into five modules of five minutes each. These are:

  • Who we are and your company
  • Becoming a director
  • Keeping records and making changes
  • Filing accounts and types of accounts
  • Flat management quiz

Company Secretary

As a director, you can opt to appoint a Company Secretary to take on some of the duties associated with running a flat management company. This is an optional service that Cleaver Property Management offers to its clients. As Company Secretary, we can provide the flat management company with a registered office address, file accounts and confirmation statements at Companies House on the company’s behalf, keep company records and notify Companies House of any changes to directors, addresses etc.

If you would like to discuss appointing Cleaver Property Management as Company Secretary, please contact us on 0118 978 7182 or info@cleaverproperty.co.uk.
