Charity Auction Success

Well, would you look at that, the Cleaver Chasers made headline news!

Last Thursday night, a charity auction was held at Wokingham Town Hall. It was organised by the Cleaver Chasers; consisting of our very own Susan Cleaver, Sarah Cleaver, Zoë Tilbury, and Helen Helliwell. This October, the Cleaver Chasers will be cycling 355km from Milan to Venice in aid of Women v Cancer (you can find out more about their challenge here), and the charity auction was just one in a series of fundraising efforts from the ladies. And what an effort it was.

Having pulled in some seriously generous donations from local businesses, the auction was a roaring success. Wine and cheese were on the menu, along with canapés donated by Jasper’s Catering Services. A tombola (run with help from The Wokingham Paper’s Claire Worsfold) comprised some of the donations, and seemingly put the forty-something guests in a winning mood. Not one item went without a bid!

Martin Cleaver of Cleaver Property Management did a great job as auctioneer, even adding a last-minute donation of his (rather colourful) waistcoat to the line-up. The evening raised £3,617.34 for Women V Cancer, who support Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust, Breast Cancer Care and Ovarian Cancer Action. The incredible total was the icing on the cake of a fabulous evening, and put the Cleaver Chasers over their £7,200 target. The team would like to thank all of those who donated:

Henry Street Café, Wokingham Superbowl, Aston Martin Reading, Sally of Soline Bags, Hotel Chocolat Bracknell, the Hand & Flowers Marlow, Country Cleaners & Cobblers, De Vere Wokefield Estate, Isabelle Brough, A Bit of a Do catering, Alexander Carpets Wokingham, The Retreat Hair & Beauty, Mailsports, Rewind Festival South, Siren Craft Brew, Rosie’s Chocolate Factory, Estate Support, Sanpa of Wokingham, All Year Round Clearance, Tesco Wokingham, Morrisons Woosehill, Crystal Quality Cleaning, Handmade Craft Company at Holme Grange, Knockout Escape Rooms Reading, Jay Printers Wokingham Floral Image, Dougal Rose Photography, Tim Helliwell, 1-Fix Limited, Brigit Hill Artist, Mark Rath, FiftyFit, Rosie’s Plants, The Grange Chocolate Café, Cook Wokingham, Chris Bush, Margaret Tilbury, and Headcase Wokingham. Not to mention Cleaver Property Management, their maintenance team, and the Cleaver Chasers themselves.

The team were truly overwhelmed by the support they received, and cannot thank the local community and businesses enough for helping them raise such a fantastic amount for Women V Cancer. And remember, it’s not too late to donate!
